WEEE Care

Our Journey

WEEE Care, the social enterprising arm of Women Empowered for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Our initiatives focus on engagement strategies with culturally relevant messaging, and the coordination of vaccination clinics to improve individual and neighborhood health outcomes. We rely on data driven insights about neighborhoods – where people live, worship and play to increase knowledge, ultimately shifting attitudes and cultural norms to produce changes in health behaviors and effect positive results. Our results underscore our commitment to addressing health disparities and advancing the health and well-being of marginalized populations in Allegheny and Beaver Counties Pennsylvania.

WEEE Care was born out of a deep-seated passion during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Witnessing the stark health disparities in marginalized communities, we felt a compelling need to act. Our commitment to addressing these disparities became the driving force behind our non-profit’s social enterprise.

At WEEE Care, we are currently dedicated to organizing community-based vaccination clinics throughout Allegheny County and the surrounding areas. Our work is to bring essential vaccination services directly to underserved populations, ensuring that everyone has equitable access to healthcare. We believe in the power of public health initiatives to transform lives and uplift communities.

Our Approach

VACCINATION CLINICS

VACCINATION CLINICS

Just over the three years, we made substantial immunization strides by administering 2,233 vaccinations in 2022, 3,390 in 2023, and this far 1,007 in 2024 for a total of 6,630 vaccines through community-based vaccination clinics.
This accomplishment represents a significant step toward bridging a health-related gap that exists within these neighbourhoods and the value of effective community engagement strategies.

FOOD INSECURITY

FOOD INSECURITY

Addressing health disparities and advancing the health and well-being of marginalized populations has included acknowledging food insecurity in the communities we service, most often the Senior population with limited incomes. We have provided lunches, holiday meals and gift cards at our vaccination clinics to help offset the economic burden in vulnerable communities. Thus far, we have given $79,560

OUR GIVING

OUR GIVING

($10,000 | 2024)

Our social enterprise provides the means to support scholarships for the higher education of young adults entering medical fields, and community health fairs. The Benevolence Fund has helped to offset funeral expenses and purchased kitchen appliances after the disaster from a fire for a single mother. Without community partnerships, we would not be able to continue to fulfill and even expand our mission!

Our Impact

In just two years, our efforts have resulted in the coordination of 6,929 inoculations. This achievement has been made possible through partnerships with local pharmacies and the establishment of diverse, professional medical teams. Each vaccination administered represents a step towards healthier communities and a brighter future.

Innovative approach is at the heart of what we do. By leveraging medical advancements and fostering community engagement, we aim to increase knowledge and transform patient experiences. Our goal is to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve, ultimately leading to improved clinical outcomes and a stronger public health framework.

WEEE Care is more than a service; it is a movement fueled by compassion and a relentless pursuit of health equity and community well-being. As we collaborate with a diverse medical team, we support the academic success and professional future of nurses, pharmacists and pre-med students.

We invite you to join us in this vital mission to create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most and when they need additional caring the most. Together, we can make a difference.
